This is a very good question. If we define crying as the simple act of sharing tears that come from the eyes, then the answer is no, animals can`t cry as we do. If we look at crying from the perspective of emotions and expressing feelings than this happens to animals also. Animal express feelings of pain and sadness through different sounds. Like for example the squirrel of monkeys and the screams and whimpers of chimps. Animals cry when they are separated from their mother, when they are separated from their master as it happens in dogs cases. They also cry when they are in pain. Maybe the injury is not visible but making weird noises gets the attention of humans that call a pet doctor. Dogs express affection more obvious than any other animals except  chimps.

It`s often said that the dog is a man`s best friend and this is no joke. Dogs can sense fear, sadness, happiness and other emotions. They express it differently than we do, but this doesn`t mean that we can`t see them. Most animals just don`t cry as we do. Pains is expressed through crying noises, whimper. Their eyes may be a little more moist but they don`t cry like humans do. Shivering is also a clue to notice that they are in pain or that they are very cold.

Scientists have noticed that apes and chimps resemble more to humans than any other animals. Chimps are intelligent and they can learn many things. They don`t cry but they can do any other things than we can. Primates don`t cry for sadness but the sounds that they make show us that they have a problem. For ordinary people, dogs are the best example of animals that have feelings and emotions. We all love our dogs and sometimes we just feel that they understand us. A dog that is raised from little puppy becomes a member of the family and a loyal friend. Primates don`t cry for sadness but they make sure we understand when they are sad. Because most of us can`t see the reactions of apes and chimps, we can see feelings at horses , dogs, cats etc. People that have animals, pets are more liable to be good people. Pets are like taking care of a child.

They need attention, care, affection etc. For most of us pets are our most precious possessions and this is only because they love us back. A dog, loves you unconditionally no matter what kind of person you are. In the end there are many theories related to humans like : humans discent from apes or humans where made by God. Because apes resemble so much in behavior and appearance with humans some tend to believe in the first theory. But, the main idea is that animals sometimes can have the same feelings as we do, either way fear is a feeling common to both species.
